Aqeel Khan sets date with Muhammad Abid Mushtaq in the Men’s Singles

1^st HASCOL National Ranking Tennis Championships, 2016

Pakistan No. 1 and Davis Cup player, Aqeel Khan, has set date with Muhammad Abid Mushtaq in the Men’s Singles final of 1^st HASCOL National Ranking Tennis Championships, 2016.  Aqeel, as expected, eliminated Mudasir Murtaza in the best of five sets encounter winning initial three sets; his score was 6-2, 6-4, 6-2.  Contrary to this Heera Ashiq could not sustain the heat of the day here in Islamabad and withdrew from semi final encounter against Muhammad Abid second seed in the second set.  Opening set was won by Abid with 6-4 and he was leading 5-0 in the second set when Heera left the court conceding the match to Muhammad Abid.

In the first semi-final of Ladies Singles, upcoming Mahin Aftab was in great form taking a 4-1 lead in the first set; however, Pakistan No. 1 used defending tactics to level the set at 4-all and eventually won it 7/5.  In the second set Sara Mansoor was leading 4-1 when young Mahin retired hurt.

In the second semifinal seed No. 2, Sarah Mahboob Khan, was in excellent form beating tenacious Meheq Khokhar 6-4, 6-2.  Meheq matched Sarah point by point and levelled the score at 4-all but from this point on Sarah used her experience to win the first set 6-4, and the second 6-2. 

Hot favourite Shoaib Khan came up to the expectations of the tennis fraternity eliminating Hamza Bin Rehan in the final of 14 and Under singles, score was 6-4, 6-2.

Under 10 title of inaugural HASCOL National Ranking Tennis went to Peshawar’s Hamid Israr who defeated Hamza Roman 4-0, 4-0 score. Both the youngster are from Nawa Kali village of Peshawar.
