The 2015 Cricket World Cup, hosted by Australia and New
Zealand is just a few hours away from its finish line. Of course Australia
being the bigger brother will host the final. As far as New Zealand is
concerned, they have already achieved a landmark by making it into the finals.
But I hope Daniel Vettori would not mind at all, retiring as a World Champion
Cricketer.
It has been a great event, attended by record numbers of
spectators from around the world and watched on TV and online by hundreds of
millions or even billions. It is nothing strange that billions watch, probably
the least played popular sport in the world. You got to remember that cricket
is played and loved in some of the most populous countries in the world, only India
and Pakistan make up more than 1.5 billion cricket lovers.
Some of the teams did not like Australia so much that they
left very early, like England. Others tried their best to stay there, like
India, South Africa, Pakistan and West Indies. But I was so disappointed by the
low cultural standards of the host nations. It is so impolite to invite people
to your home and then lock everyone out of the dining-room and enjoy the feast.
But why am I astonished? Have I forgotten the origins of Australians and New
Zealanders?
Anyway I want New Zealand to win because, they
have shown better form during this tournament. They have already beaten
Australia in the group and they will beat Australia in the Final also. Let us wait for a few hours and see who will
be the new World Cricket Champion.
