The Pakistan Davis Cup squad left for Turkey early this morning from Islamabad.
Playing members Aqeel Khan and Muhammad Abid Ali Akbar are accompanied by the non-playing Captain, Hameed ul Haq.
The other two team members, Aisamul Haq Qureshi and Samir Iftikhar, will travel from the USA and expected to join up at Istanbul on 11th September.
Pakistan will play the final of the Davis Cup Asia Oceania Zone Group 2 against Chinese Taipei at the neutral venue in Izmir, Turkey, from 18 to 20th September, on Synthetic, Hard Courts.
Shahzad Akhtar Alvi, an ITF White Badge Chair Umpire, also left on the same flight to officiate in the Tie.
Mr. Iftikhar Rashid, SEVP - PTF, and Team Manager, will join the contingent in Izmir before the draws.
The Pakistan team will spend three days at Istanbul to play practice matches against Turkey’s top players, and will then proceed to Izmir on 13th evening. This will allow them another 4 days to practice and acclimatise before the Tie starts on 18th September.
