PTF Masters' Invitational Tennis event -Aqeel and Yasir Khan win

Aqeel Khan and and Yasir Khan, won their matches by beating their respective opponents on the 8^th and final day of PTF Masters' Invitational Tennis event here on the Hard courts of Pakistan Sport Complex, Islamabad.  Matches are being played on round robin basis, best of five set format, to provide the same competitive environment as that of Davis Cup. 

In the final match of the day Aqeel Khan defeated Muhammad Abid Ali Akbar in straight sets 6-4, 6-0, 7-6(2). Aqeel Khan displayed marvellous game of tennis during the final. Aqeel Khan won the first set at 6-4 by breaking 9^th game of Abid Ali Akbar by playing consistent game from the baseline.  In the second set Aqeel completely outplayed Abid Ali and took only 36 minutes to take the second set at 6-0 without conceding a single game. In the 3^rd set Aqeel Khan was serving for the match at 5-4 but Abid Ali broke him and levelled the score at 5 all and then 6 all and the set was decided on a tiebreak which was won by Aqeel at score 7-2 and the set at 7-6 (2). The match lasted 2 hours and 30 minutes. 

Mr. Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera, DG/PSB, also witnessed the Final and appreciated the standard of play.

In an impressive closing ceremony, Aqeel Khan got Rs.75000 as winner and Abid Ali pocketed Rs. 50,000 as Runner Up. Mr. Iftikhar Rashid, Senior Executive Vice President, PTF, distributed the prizes. 

In the 2^nd match for the 3^rd position match Yasir Khan won his match against Ahmed Chaudhry at score 7-6(7), 6-0 (Retired). In the first set Yasir Khan won the set in the tiebreak 9-7. Yasir won the second set without conceding a single game at score 6-0. At this stage Ahmed could not continue the game and conceded the match in favor of Yasir Khan. The match lasted one hour and 26 minutes.

In a short speech the chief guest, Mr. Iftikhar Rashid, reiterated that it was the policy of the PTF Management to select teams on merit which fact was evident in this event.  He also thanked the Printing Media and Pakistan Television for providing live coverage.
