Canadians are cruel!!!

Prague – Czech Republic: The first two quarterfinals of the IIHF World Championship 2015 were played in the Czech cities of Prague and Ostrava today. In the earlier match played in Ostrava team USA met formidable resistance from the Swiss, but apart from the first period and the last 3.5 minutes of the third period, the Swiss pressure was handled quite well.

The Swiss team scored the first goal and maintained its lead in the first period. But as always they had a hard time defending their lead or improving it. In the second period the Americans scored 2 goals within 57 seconds to take minimum lead.

Team USA scored the third and final goal in the first half of the third period. The Swiss replaced their goal attendant with the sixth player and raided the American goal for 3.5 last minutes, but the end result remained the same.

In the semi-final which will be played in Prague the Americans will play against the winner of the third quarterfinal between Russia and Sweden, which will be played soon and we will tell you about that one as well.

In the second quarterfinal played in Prague the Canadians just rolled over Belarus, squashing them to reach their semi-final spot. The cruelty of the Canadian team can be judged from the fact that they scored 4 goals in the first period. The second and third periods were no different. The Belarussian team remained humble and did not dare scoring against the mighty Canadians. The game ended with a score of 9-0.

The Canadians will face the winner of the fourth quarterfinal between Finland and the Czech Republic. For the third and fourth quarterfinals, I cannot be objective and I don’t need to be so before these matches start my slogan is Go Russia and Go Finland!!!
