You all already know what happened. If you don’t, let me
tell you in brief. Pakistan failed to bat as a professional team. All the
rotten eggs of Pakistani betting line-up like Sohaib Maqsood and Umar Akmal
dragged Pakistan as deep in trouble as they could. I will not even talk about
Afridi. The only good thing is that Pakistanis cricket fans will not have to
suffer at his hands any more at least in One day format. The whole team
accumulated only 213 runs and left the job to the bowlers.
Australians bowled well, but seriously they stand no chance
against Indian type of batting. Australian bowlers just did half the job. It
was Pakistanis who did not know how to play.
Pakistani bowlers started very well. First wicket fell at 15
and by the time they got to 60 Australia had lost 3 wickets. But that was not
enough.
Wahab Riaz reminded us of the beauty of fast bowling after a
long time. He treated Watson, Maxwell, Warner and the Australian captain like
children. Watson was all clueless for 6 overs. Riaz bowled bullets that flew
high near Watson’s head.
But then Pakistani professionalism jumped in. Watson was
dropped at a score of 4 runs and had he been taken, it would had been a totally
different ballgame. It was an easy catch, but dropped. Watson finished with a score
of more than 50.
Then Maxwell came in after Smith’s dismissal and Wahab made
his knees rattle. And in the very first over Maxwell was also dropped. And with
these dropped catches Pakistan dropped all its chances of going to Sydney.
One of the two teams always loses and today as usual it was
Pakistan, but watching the fire in Wahab’s eyes pleased me. We always produced
high class fast bowlers and we still do. Mitchell Stark is a good bowler, but
Stark did not have the courage to attack top line batsmen. He tried his pace
against Wahab Riaz, who bats at №8. But
Pakistani pacers troubled the top order, especially Wahab. So even Pakistan is
out of the tournament after losing. But Wahab Riaz won today against all top
line Australian batsmen.
Although Pakistani
cricket fans are used to disappointment, but I hope all these rotten eggs will
be removed from the team and good professionally talented players will get a
chance to play for Pakistan.
Congratulations to
Australia! Now we will watch the Semis and I think the match in Sydney will be
a lot more interesting. This match will be on the 26th and this will
be a thriller.
Say your good byes to Misbah, Afridi and Younus
Khan. Despite all the ups and downs these players did render a lot of
cricketing services for Pakistan and they deserve to retire with a round of
applause.
