The English team had been performing very badly since the start of
the Cricket World Cup 2015. They lost 4 out of 5 games, had a little better run
rate than Afghanistan, they only won against the brotherly team from Scotland
and now the only team to which they might have the pleasure of losing is
Afghanistan.
England will play its last match on Friday 13th of
March. Now I don’t want to sound superstitious, but everybody is afraid of
Friday the 13th in the Christian world, whereas for Muslims Friday
is a holy day. So should I mourn the English team’s defeat at the hands of
Afghanistan in advance or should I wait for the actual match to take place?
One might had expected a better struggle by the English, but first
they conceded 275 runs. This total included 103 off 138 balls by Mohammad
Mehmudullah and 89 off 77 balls by Mushfiqur Rahim. Before reaching the end of
the 50th over Bangladesh had lost only 7 wickets.
To tell you the truth, none of the English bowlers gave a
performance worth mentioning.
In response to the target of 275, the team of cricket inventors
just scored 260. With Jos Buttler’s 65 and Ian Bell’s 63 in 48.3 overs.
The English must be hating Bangladesh team, because the Bengali
Babus forced the English to end their paid Australian vacation and return to
cold and murky England. But someone told me that on the contrary the English
are in love with the Bengalis, because Bangladesh’s Biman Airlines has offered
free first-class tickets to London for the English team.
Under dire economic conditions, which prevail across Europe and
especially in the UK, the English team decided to take the offer. Their
decision was logical and devoid of any emotions. World-Cup will come around
after 4 years, but after four years, Biman might not come-up with such a lucrative
offer. So the English team decided to save Tax-Payer money and fly back in
Biman’s first-class. You know they say in UK: “Penny saved is penny earned!”
And
by the way they will lose to Afghanistan, as a sign of repentance for their
government’s sins!
