LAHORE , Mar 3 (PFP): –Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shahryar Khan declared "chapter closed" in the Moin Khan 'casino controversy' after a formal apology from the chief selector on Tuesday.
Chief Selector of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Moin Khan on Tuesday met Chairman PCB Shahryar Khan to clarify his visit to casino during mega event of World Cup 2015.
While talking to media after the meeting, Chairman PCB revealed that the Chief Selector has confessed to going casino and apologized for his mistake.
Shahryar said the PCB investigation found nothing contrary to Moin's statement that he had visited the casino in Christchurch, New Zealand, to have dinner with friends.
"He realises that it was inappropriate to have visited a casino ahead of Pakistan's match against the West Indies. But he reiterated that he only had dinner over there and nothing else. He also admitted that, perhaps, a casino was not the right place to have dinner and has apologised. This chapter is now closed," Shahryar said.
‘Moin Khan has not played in casino and left the venue after having dinner with his wife and friend,’ PCB Chairman revealed.
As per details, the meeting went on for about 40 minutes however, Moin Khan avoided to face media.
Responding to a question, Chairman PCB stated that the former wicket keeper will not be going back to Australia for World Cup event and that the issue has been resolved on approving the apology of Moin Khan.
Earlier, Moin Khan was caught by a Pakistani couple while enjoying in New Zealand’s casino a day before Pakistan and West Indies match. Team Manager Naveed Akram Cheema was given the responsibility to unearth the reality.
After receiving the report from Team Manager declaring Moin Khan guilty, PCB called back the Chief Selector to submit his explanation.
